Description:
- The Aggregate Crushing Value Test Apparatus provides a relative measure of the resistance of aggregate to crushing under a gradually applied compressive load. The oven-dried and accurately weighed aggregates are subjected to a crushing test on a Compression Testing Machine. The weight of the resultant fines passing the specified IS sieve, expressed as a percentage of the total weight of the sample, is defined as the Aggregate Crushing Value.
- The Aggregate Crushing Value provides a relative measure of the resistance of an aggregate to crushing under a gradually applied compressive load. A lesser Aggregate Crushing Value indicates that the given sample of aggregate is stronger.
- The apparatus is also used for the Ten Percent Fines Value test, which measures the load required to produce 10% fines under gradual compression. A Compression Testing Machine is required for this test.
- The apparatus consists of a cylindrical container, base plate, plunger and tamping rod. The cylinder, plunger and base plate are made from special alloy steel, hardened to 650 HV (57.8 HRC), and protected against corrosion.
- The apparatus can be supplied with a cylindrical metal measure as specified.
Applications:
- Determination of Aggregate Crushing Value.
- Determination of the relative resistance of aggregate to crushing under a gradually applied compressive load.
- Determination of aggregate strength based on Aggregate Crushing Value.
- Determination of Ten Percent Fines Value.
- Determination of the load required to produce 10% fines under gradual compression.
- Aggregate crushing testing using a Compression Testing Machine.
Aggregate Size Guidance:
- 75 mm diameter for 1/8" to 1/4" size aggregate.
- 150 mm diameter for 3/8" to 3/4" aggregate (standard).
- 300 mm diameter for 150 mm diameter for 3/8" to 3/4" aggregate (standard).
- 300 mm diameter for 1" to 2" aggregate.
